Help Promote Your Profession and Your Firm:
The
David Thompson National Geomatics Awards
celebrate and promote the interesting, exciting and wide ranging applications in the surveying profession.
Deadline for submissions is February 29, 2008.
Unlike many other Surveyors’ awards that involve a nomination process, the process for these awards is modeled after an industry or academic awards process. In this model, the individual surveyor makes an application for the award by submitting a description of a survey project that he or she was involved in. All commissioned surveyors, who are members of a Canadian surveying association, and who submit projects that have been completed within the last three years are eligible. Categories include
Innovation in Geomatics, Contribution to Society, and Unusual Applications in Geomatics.
The awards will be presented at the
2008 National Surveyors Conference
being held in conjunction with the Canadian Hydrographic Conference in Victoria, British Columbia
May 5-8, 2008.

Your National Professional Liability Insurance Resources:
The PLIC is a resource of CCLS and therefore of the Member Associations and all Canadian surveyors. Committee members, with over 50 years combined experience, are available to any surveyor or Association who may have questions regarding professional liability insurance, regardless of where they or their firm is insured. If a committee member cannot answer a specific question we will point the surveyor in the direction of the right answers or expert advice as required. The “Loss Prevention and Practice Management Guide” is available on the
CCLS website
and in hard copy from the CCLS office. Custom designed Risk Management Seminars are available and any Association wishing to host one should contact the Committee. Detailed committee information can be found on the
CCLS website
